Sleep deprivation – caused by lack of sleep or reduced sleep quality – can harm our health. Try these expert tips to improve your sleep:
- Choose a suitable bedtime and waking time, and stick to these – even on weekends.
- Get natural light, especially earlier in the day.
- Exercise during the day and not close to bedtime.
- Avoid artificial light, especially as bedtime approaches; try blue light filters on devices you use in the evening.
- Don’t eat or drink close to bedtime; keep particularly away from alcohol, fat and sugar.
- Keep your bedroom as comfortable, quiet and dark as possible.
